Well preserved due to the desert climate is the impact crater of the Barringer Meteor in Arizona. The cosmic stone, which hit the Earth about 50.000 years ago, had a diameter of 50 m (a 15-storey-buidling) and a weight of 300.000 t. Its velocity was between 55.000 and 110.000 km/h.
