(October 2008) „New Stone Age Design” was the name of an exhibit, which was shown under the auspices of the Saiespring trade fair in Bologna in March 2008. Spectators could see the finished products of designer Denis Santachiara’s drafts. The show was a magnet, attracting many visitors, according to a press release.
We have chosen to show five of the eleven creations some of which were quite original – others quite traditional with just a dash of innovation. Most were crafted using CNC-technology. The show was a joint venture between the Paneuropean campaign for a stone trademark Pietra Autentica, the Italian trade guild Confindustria Marmomacchine and the trade fair operators. The drafts were realized by companies participating in Pietra Autentica.
The no-nonsense name of a unique sink is „Lavabo” crafted to resemble the wings of a butterfly. There is no real sink as such. The drain is in the centre and the tap above it. It was produced by Capellini Marmi in limestone specially treated to be acid and erosion-resistant.

Marmi e Graniti Farinon presented seats made of translucent onyx. „Nice to look at – easy to lift” is the motto of these pieces made of 7 mm thick slabs weighing 8.5 kg. A more durable version in 2cm thick stone would weigh 37 kg. The table in the centre is crafted from green slate.
