Elena Salmistraro and the creatives at Martinelli Venezia Studio have once again been inspired by the “Mare Nostrum”
In 2024, Lithea will also be all about the “More Nostrum”, in other words: the Mediterranean. The family business based in Sicily has been looking at the cultures around the ocean between Europe and Africa for its collections for several years. Numerous designers such as Michele De Lucchi, Marella Ferrera, Marco Piva, Philippe Nigro, Mario Scairato, and Astrid Luglio have already been inspired by the centuries-old ideas of the cultures from the Iberian Peninsula to the Aegean coast.
For the current collection, the designers have taken a look at the aquatic world itself.
For “Marina”, Elena Salmistraro looked at the life forms in the depths. It “translates the depths of the sea and its wonders into a scenic polychromatic decorative panel and three coffee tables of different shapes and heights with organic lines,” says the press release.
In fact, it has depicted the flowing forms of plants and animals along a reef in stone.
In addition, there are three side tables of different sizes and shapes.

The designers from the Martinelli Venezia Studio dived right down to the seabed for “Geografia”. Their tiles play with the mountains and valleys there – or were they just inspired by the topography on land?
“Arcipelago” is an ensemble of table and chairs that recreates an island world.
The company writes about itself: “Lithea was founded in 2008 by Patrizia Furnari and Fabio Fazio. Born in collaboration with the historic family company, its intention is to transfer long-standing passion and the ancient knowledge of stone production techniques to an innovative design concept which thanks to sophisticated production processes and advanced technology launched a research and experimentation process that is in constant development. Lithea produces cladding, flooring, accessories, and indoor and outdoor furnishing. The material of choice is natural stone.”
