Cynthia Sah: “Black Connected.“Nicolas Bertoux: “Smarties.“ Photos: Fondazione Arkad“Idea Forma” is the title of an exhibition at the Chianti Sculpture Park in Pievasciata, a few kilometers from Siena, Tuscany, until November 10, 2024. On show are works of ten international artists: Cynthia Sah, Nicolas Bertoux, Neal Barab, Rob Good, Sungil Kim, Christine Madies, Jaya Schuerch, Lotte Thuenker, Kemal Tufan, and Ko Yamazaki. We show photos of “Black Connected” by Cynthia Sah and “Smarties“ by Nicolas Bertoux.

Carrara‘s marble quarries play a role in the American Saga “The Brutalist“ launched at the Venice Fim Festival 2024. It is a story from the 1930s when a Jewish Holocaust survivor and immigrant to the US built a monumental community center of concrete and marble: “In one stunning sequence, the scene shifts to the marble quarries of Carrara in Italy where a combination of the sound design – we hear every crackle and rumble – and the elemental beauty of the rock combine to make moments of pure cinema,“ as said on a webpage. “Brazilian Stone Tour“ is the name of a new marketing initiative to promote the country’s natural stones in the US. It is organized by export organization Centrorochas and Marmomac Brazil, the former Vitória Stone Fair now held in São Paulo, and will organize presentations in Texas and California. A survey at KBIS fair 2024 fair had shown that in North America little was known where and how to get stones from Brazil (Portuguese).

“Sensuality in Stone“ is an exhibition at the J/M Gallery in London showing stone sculptures by female artists Aly Brown, Kim Francis, Mel Fraser & Ana Ruiz Agüí until September 24, 2024.

Mikol Marmi company has developed a lot of applications for super thin marbles. The company now comes to the market with two mm thin and large format slabs with the product name of “Mikolite.“
