The MIART art fair took place in Milan for the 29th time in 2025 (April 04-06), with 179 galleries from 31 countries on five continents as exhibitors. As usual, numerous initiatives from the art scene around the world also presented their work. The show takes place almost simultaneously with the major design events Salone del Mobile (at the exhibition center in the Rho district) and Fuorisalone (spread across the city center, with a focus on the Brera district).

Around 45,000 visitors attended MIART.

The art fair may be small compared to the two aforementioned design events, but it fills an entire hall in the Allianz MiCo exhibition center, just a few steps from the Portello metro station. One of the new automated metro lines stops there, where, instead of the driver’s compartment in the first and last cars, there is a clear view into the tunnel.

The city’s trade fair company (FieraMilano) is also organizing Miart. The main sponsor is Intesa Sanpaolo Private Banking, which, according to a press release, “presents its innovative and comprehensive wealth management solutions“ at the show. The bank has an art advisory service “designed for those who see art as a unique opportunity to diversify and grow their assets.“

Milan is, after all, the center of Italy’s financial sector and the economy in general.

The fair concept was characterized by three focal points:
* In the “Emergent“ section, 25 galleries showed works by artists who are still at the beginning of their careers;
* “Established“ took up the largest part of the show. Here, galleries presented works by great Masters of Modern Art or current works;
* “Portal” was the name of the venue with ten galleries that “question our understanding of fixed geographies, languages, and temporalities.“

The cover theme for 2025 was “Among Friends.“ The motto refers to Robert Rauschenberg (died 2008), a pioneer of Pop Art, who would have turned 100 this year. He understood art as a collective process and an interplay between many participants.

Various prizes were awarded. Particularly noteworthy is the art sponsorship by the Fondazione Fiera Milano. It regularly purchases works of art and exhibits them publicly.

We show some of the exhibited works, especially with stone, that caught our attention. Please excuse the poor quality of the photos.
