“The Rock“ is the name of Dornbracht’s new bathroom faucet. The rotary handles, which regulate the water flow, are modeled after rocks: On the one hand, their shape is reminiscent of a piece of stone, with the sides appearing only roughly formed, and on the other, the handles are made of solid metal. “They are individually milled, sanded, polished, and finished, making each one truly unique,” according to the company’s webpage “The weight of the material gives them a special feel that grounds you with every touch.”
And that’s not all: The handles themselves can also be made of other materials, such as marble.
As inspiration for interior designers, Dornbracht also shows the metal handles in reverse in a bathroom design with wall coverings and sinks made entirely of stone.
The frame of “The Rock“ is the MEM series, which stands for “clarity, reduction, balance,“ as the company writes. “The concept of ‚sampling‘ refers to the customization of bathroom architecture adapted to the needs of the user.”
For Dornbracht, “The Rock“ is the first piece from its new “Atelier Editions“ collection. The concept is as follows: “The Atelier Editions combine artistic craftsmanship with precise material selection and offer a wide range of customization options. Spouts, handles, surfaces, and other details can be designed according to customer specifications. This creates curated, unique pieces that are unmistakable in their design language and feel.“
“Nature Squared“ is another design variant, in which small pieces of mother-of-pearl or exclusive stone are inserted into the handles. “Reinventing natural materials“ is the motto here.
