Description of the stone: A schistose laminated rock, fine-grained, dark gray colored, with irregular and deformed schistose cleavage, with alternation between lighter fine-grained beds and darker pelitic beds.

Architect: Eduardo Souto de Moura.Peculiarities of the stone: For the Espaço Miguel Torga in São Martinho de Anta, in memory of the famous poet, Pritzker Prize winner Eduardo Souto de Moura chose the stone from nearby for the exterior walls. In the “Broot“-project on product design with materials from the country’s regions, Studio Anansi combined the polished stone with acacia wood.
