The Marmomac trade fair in Verona will celebrate its 60th edition from September 22 – 25, 2026. A new feature this year is the opening address by internationally renowned architect Carlo Ratti, who will take a look at “natural stone as a design material in the upheavals of the future,” as the trade fair states in a press release in Italian. Also new will be the presentations in Creative Hall 10: This time, the theme is “The Bedrock – Leading the Future of Natural Stone.”
There, for the first time, Davide Fabio Colaci and Joseph Grima will present their ideas on natural stone. According to the trade show, the two are among the “leading figures of the ‘Nouvelle Vague’ in design and architecture.” As in previous years, industrial designer Raffaello Galiotto and architecture professor Giuseppe Fallacara will also present their ideas for the future development of the stone sector.
Another new feature is the “International Sustainable Excellence Award” in cooperation with the University of Verona. According to press materials, the award aims to “highlight the most advanced solutions for sustainable innovation within the stone industry supply chain and recognize machines, systems, tools, materials, and projects that can make a tangible contribution to increasing production efficiency, reducing consumption, and promoting responsible resource use.”
Once again, the “Marmomac & The City” program will feature stone art installations on display in downtown Verona. The trade show is partnering with the “White Carrara” initiative, which showcases sculptures in the City of Marble during the summer.
The Marmomac Academy will again take place on the fairground, featuring lectures and discussions. The Best Communicator Award will be presented for the 18th time to exhibitors for the quality of their booths.
Symbolically, the press conference for the anniversary event was held at the Prun quarries in Negrar, in the province of Verona. In doing so, Veronafiere, as the organizer, sought to commemorate the trade show’s beginnings in 1940 in Sant’Ambrogio di Valpolicella under the name “Mostra del Marmo e delle Macchine.” What started as a purely Italian event grew alongside the sector, and the family gathering evolved into a meeting place for internationally active players.
In the early 1990s, the trade show moved to Verona under the professional management of Veronafiere, taking place at the modern exhibition center located not far from the train station.
A milestone for the sector was the “Marmomacc Meets Design” exhibition, which later continued under the name “Italian Stone Theater.”
In 2016, the trade show’s name dropped the second “c” and has since been spelled “Marmomac.”
For several years now, the title “Marmo + Mac” has caused some confusion – it brings the trade show’s various activities together under one brand, but it is not a new name for the event.
In 2025, Marmomac attracted 1,480 exhibitors and 50,000 visitors, 66% of whom came from abroad.
