Marsotto Edizioni, Robert Stadler: “New Wave“ collection.

Until now, the collections of the Italian brand Marsotto Edizioni were characterized by uncompromising design: The design of the furniture and household items was limited to the absolute essentials and devoid of any ornamentation; originally, only white, and black marble were available.

But after the colors ochre, red, and green, along with the corresponding stone types, were added in 2024 with the “Matter Colour Nature“ collection, there was another innovation in 2025: For the “New Wave“ collection, Austrian designer Robert Stadler partially dissolved the strict straight lines and curves of the objects into wavy lines.

And that is not all: The waves are also essential to the functionality of the objects. Unlike before, where tables, consoles, or other elements could shape a room on their own simply because of their design value, they can now be pushed together to form several oversized tables or shelves, even with colorful patterns.

From a production perspective, this sounds easier than it is. Especially with wavy lines, every inaccuracy that the CNC machine has added to a sideline becomes apparent.

“New Wave“ consists, so to speak, of individual parts that can grow by being joined together. In its original state, it consists of a (dining) table, two coffee tables, a side table, a totem, a bookcase, a tray, and a fruit bowl.

As in the previous year, the materials are Carrara White, Marquina Black, Levanto Red, and Alps Green marbles, as well as the ochre-colored Roman Travertine.

There are two finishes: powder and matt polished.

What distinguishes this collection from Marsotto Edizioni’s previous design rigor is the playful lightness that the company itself recommends for handling its products. With its usual restraint, the documentation states: “It is possible to create a variety of original compositions combining the different finishes and stones available in our collection.“

What remains unchanged is that the objects themselves are crafted from solid natural stone in the company’s workshops.
