Neutra, the Italian company for stylish and exclusive furniture pieces made with natural stone, chose the Palazzo Visconti to present its new collection for Milan Design Week 2025. The results were exciting, as the palazzo belonged to the city’s most powerful family for many generations and, although its exterior façade is rather simple, its interior is designed in the exuberant splendor of the Rococo style. Neutra, however, focuses on modernity and style for his furniture rather than splendor and exuberance.
Here, both styles survived the clash unscathed, the Rococo furnishings certainly did, and Neutra’s furniture also held its own, not being lost in the face of so much ancient art.
Visitors were able to explore the collection on a tour through five rooms on the first floor. The title of the show, “Monochrome Affinity,“ was somewhat misleading. Rather, the Neutra pieces in each room were organized around a single color. However, the subtitle clarified what it was about: “A Sensory Immersion in Marble“ or “five rooms, five colors, and five sensory worlds, which harmonize furniture, surfaces, and light.“
The pieces on display included tables, a bed, sofas, sideboards, shelves, and lamps. The designs were the result of Neutra’s collaborations with well-known designers. This year, they were – in alphabetical order – Monica Armani, atelier oï, Draw Studio, Gabriele e Oscar Buratti, Stefano Gallizioli, and Migliore+Servetto. The latter, incidentally, are the firm’s art directors and were responsible for the entire presentation.
Light played a crucial role in shaping each space. “A measured design shapes the rooms, amplifying the interaction between color, material, and emotion,“ stated the press release.
A hallmark of Neutra creations is that the objects can be modified according to customer requirements and crafted from many types of stone. The company offers consultation on what is possible with stone.
