The “Marble Matters” collection, launched by the renowned brand Marsotto Edizioni in collaboration with designer/artist Jaime Hayon at Milan Design Week 2026, showcases something entirely new for the company: some of the objects are simply playful. This is a departure from previous Marsotto Edizioni designs, which have always been characterized by strict, linear aesthetics, with functionality being the sole focus alongside perfect craftsmanship.
A few years ago, the company introduced a new approach, incorporating colored varieties and travertine alongside traditional white and black marble.
However, it continues to operate in a class of its own when it comes to manufacturing. This is exemplified by the current table “Micellaneous”: Remnants of colored marble are inlaid into the white marble slab, as if they had always been a natural part of the base stone. Only the edges of the slab reveal that they are inlays.
The “Geo Smile” stool also plays with inlays. This is pure fun, something previously unseen in Marsotto’s work.
The “Animalotec” masks can also be seen as an expression of a love of fantasy. The designer himself writes: “Invented creatures that echo real ones, yet move into a realm of heightened fantasy and transformation.”
The sculpture “High Love” is pure art. Its message is “unity, of the desire to move away from hate and towards something shared and essential.”
Other pieces in the collection include the “Finferli” floor lamp, the “Boatload” shelf, the “Freedom Bird” low table, and the “Flower Carrara Island” plant stand.
All pieces are available only as limited editions.
