The 8th Edition of the Global Stone Congress will take place in Drama, Greece, from June 16 to 20, 2025. It is the foremost technical-scientific event focused on the Dimension Stone Sector and brings together lectures, poster exhibitions, round tables, seminars, and workshops related to architecture, innovation, new technologies, and sustainability.
Keynote Speakers are:
* Paola Blasi: “The role of stone consultants in supporting a sustainable architecture: from quarry evaluation and stone characterization to processing, installation, and maintenance“;
* Ioannis Chatzipanagis: “Management Studies of the Hellenic Survey of Geology & Mineral Exploration (H.S.G.M.E.) in the Main Areas of Ornamental Stones, in Northern Greece“;
* Ioannis Kapageridis: “Smart Quarries: AI and Machine Learning Transforming Marble Exploration, Extraction, and Processing“;
* Costandis Kizis: “Earth, memory, myth; stone in contemporary architecture“;
* Maria Menegaki: “Can marble exploitation be both a backbone to local prosperity and an environmental pioneer? The answer is definitely yes.“
The organizers are: The Hellenic Survey of Geology and Mineral Exploration (H.S.G.M.E.) and the Greek Marble Association of Macedonia Thrace (SEMMTH) under the auspices of the Greek Mining Enterprises Association, the National Technical University of Athens, the University of Western Macedonia, and the Greek Ministry of Environment and Energy.
