Niksang company: Indian stone design.

Based in Salem, Tamil Nadu, located in the prosperous southern region of India, Niksang company has established offices across multiple states. We first connected with them at a design fair and have since followed their product portfolio closely. The family business remains deeply rooted in Indian culture and design, even as it embarks on its initial steps into the export market.

Notably, from a customer’s perspective, you don’t have to be an India enthusiast or expert to appreciate and enjoy their products.

We recently came across photos on Instagram featuring their wall tiles made from Indian travertine. The design uniquely incorporates both the stone’s color and natural veins. Particularly striking are the intricate mandala patterns, whose geometric precision creates a decorative contrast to the natural irregularities of the travertine. As the company describes it, this is where “timeless craftsmanship meets modern minimalism.”

Another example from their product range is the wall tiles inspired by boho art, a style popular across Asia. These tiles are crafted from beige marble and feature various copper motifs integrated into the design. The overall goal is to create a warm, harmonious aesthetic. In response to our inquiry, company founder Nikhil Shah described the tiles as “minimalist yet striking, with organic motifs and geometric rhythms that bring a refined, earthy charm to any space.”

One of the company’s specialties is the interior design of pooja rooms, which are an essential feature in every Indian home. Religion plays a significant role in daily life there, whether as an expression of faith or a quest for transcendence.
A pooja room is, broadly speaking, a dedicated space for prayer and contemplation beyond the material world. The room shown in our photos features Indian marble accented with inlaid golden Om motifs and printed images of plants and animals.
There are specific guidelines governing the location and design of pooja rooms within a home. As company founder Nikhil Shah puts it: “Every detail reflects devotion, artistry, and timeless elegance.”

The company has also been involved in exports for several years, although until now this has primarily focused on gravestones featuring decorative motifs.

Currently, Niksang employs 30 people, including the founder’s daughter, who collaborates with his wife in the design department, and the son, who oversees technical implementation. Incidentally, the company name “Niksang“ is a blend of Nikhil and Sangita, the founder’s wife’s first name.
