The Italian furniture producer Cantori sent us a press release about the first design contest it held together with Cantiere delle Marche, a specialist for long-range, luxury explorer yachts from 26 to 49 m in length. We show photos where natural stone was used:

“The contest had a clear objective: to reinterpret three iconic areas – the Owner’s Cabin, the Main Saloon, and the Main Deck – of a Flexplorer 146 Yacht through the vision of ten Italian architecture and interior design studios. The theme “From Land to Sea” guided the design process, inviting the studios to bring the comfort and aesthetic language of domestic interiors on board.

Each design was inspired by one of four imaginary owner couples: James Bond & Honey Ryder, Penelope & Ulysses, Warhol & Basquiat, Federico Fellini & Giulietta Masina.

Nick Maltese Studio: Flooring with travertine Bianco Sibillino.

The four archetypes that transformed the yacht into a narrative stage where myth, glamour, and contemporary art meet design.

The ten participating studios, among them the most important in the Italian and international panorama, were chosen precisely because they come from disciplines outside the traditional field of yacht design, bringing fresh approaches and unconventional perspectives.

Spagnulo&Partners: coffee tables with marble tops.

They were: Barreca & La Varra, Fabric, Flaviano Capriotti Architetti, Lombardini22, Nick Maltese Studio, Orizzonti Verticali (Monica Gasperini + Ambra Piccin), Progetto CMR, Spagnulo & Partners, Studio Marco Piva, WIP Architetti.

Among the ten projects, the jury identified four particularly significant proposals, created by Nick Maltese Studio, Progetto CMR, Spagnulo & Partners, and Studio Marco Piva. The evaluation was based on clear and shared criteria: expressive strength and originality of the solutions, space optimization and functionality, comfort and luxury as a sensory user experience, and finally the ability to present and narrate the project through coherent and effective storytelling.
