One of Draenert’s new releases in 2025 is the “Kent II“ table with the “Trapeza“ tabletop: As the name suggests, it is a trapezoid, but here with rounded corners.
Its predecessor was last year’s “Trilungo“ tabletop – a portmanteau of “three“ and “long,“ meaning that designer Wolfgang C.R. Mezger had elongated a triangle.
The company, based on Lake Constance, is known for high-quality furniture with unusual design ideas, while always keeping the experimental within the bounds of usability.
With the new “Kent Outdoor,“ the company is also bringing the table into outdoor spaces. Four tabletop shapes are possible: oval, pebble, trilungo, and trapeza. This allows you to play around with the many seating arrangements for guests on the terrace or in the garden, for example, thanks to the rounded corners of the tabletop.
This play with asymmetry could perhaps be described as “flexible geometry“ – the jurors of the prestigious German Design Awards found the concept so exceptional that “Kent“ was honored with one of the awards of 2025.
It’s worth noting that Draenert offers numerous new exotic natural stone varieties for its tabletops. The man-made nature of a piece of furniture is pushed into the background by the natural veins and colors of the stones. The half-shell table legs also give “Kent“ the expression of a sculpture.
Finally, Draenert recently celebrated a special anniversary: 30 years ago (1995) the “Adler“ dining table was launched. It wasn’t the shape of the tabletop that was unusual, but rather the piece of furniture itself: With a sophisticated and much-admired mechanism, it was possible to effortlessly rotate a hidden half of the table upwards, extending the piece of furniture:
This is, so to speak, moving furniture in an up-to-date version – we’ve tried out the unexpected lightness of “Adler“ at many trade fairs and have enjoyed it time and again. The design was originally by company founder Peter Draenert.
By the way: for the “Atlas“ table, here not mentioned, a special mechanism is also available:
