The navigation on the Lo & Co website is surprising: “Handles, Knobs, Hooks” are the categories, and such items are usually considered secondary by ambitious designers. However, the two Australians, Arielle Lopresti and Teegan Cocchiaro, have carved out a niche for themselves precisely with these items. Their aim is to “make ordinary hardware accessories a little less ordinary.“
Behind this lies an appreciation for even the smallest details in everyday furnishings: “Elevating the ordinary with refined details“ is how they describe their goal.
The two founded their studio in 2016. There is now a whole network of showrooms, extending beyond Australia, where customers can see their creations in person. However, the majority of sales are conducted online through their website.
From the beginning, they focused on small accessories for doors, cabinets, walls, and so on. Initially, their material was limited to brass, sometimes with bronze or nickel plating and specially treated surfaces. Since 2020, marble has been added to their portfolio, and more recently, travertine. The stone is solid, as is the brass.
Meticulous care is evident in their design work. They also provide their customers with the necessary information to handle the objects with care. On the pages featuring marble products, there is a note: “Wipe with a damp cloth and avoid using any chemicals.“
As their latest innovation, they seem to be taking a step towards art: “Their latest ranges are sculptural and experimental, pushing the boundaries of traditional hardware”, as said on the webpage.
