Architecture: Distinction not only for the Marble Opera house

School buildings in Philim, Nepal conceived by Asian Architecture Friendship (AAF). (October 2009) The Marmomacc International Stone Architecture Award distinguishes buildings from all around the world whenever natural stone is implemented in an exceptional manner. Once again, Vincenzo Pavan of the University Ferrara was chairman of the jury, whose members were Francesco Cellini, Fulvio Irace, Juan José Lahuerta and Werner Oechslin. This year two special prices were awarded: the „Ad Memoriam Award“ which is presented in memory of outstanding architects post mortem, and the „Vernacular Architecture Award“ for the unknown contractor.

The award-winning works are comprehensively described in the book „Lithic, Ethic, Aestetic“ (published by Motta Architettura, 30 €, ISBN 88-6116-120-7).
