Worth having a look at: the extension of the Cleveland Museum of Art: whereas the main building was constructed in marble in 1916 in Neoclassical Design, the new East Wing bears alternating horizontal stripes of white marble and black Cold Spring Granite.
A new internet portal was launched by the Spanish Natural Stone Association F.D.P. New features include news as well as various columns in Spanish. An English language button is already available. The Anuario de la Piedra Natural, an overview of companies and institutions at home in the stone branch, can now be ordered on-line. The site also provides a search function for companies by regions („Buscador de Empresas“).
Stone Fruit Dishes in a multitude of shapes and sizes are on offer by the New Dongping Company of China.
Among the newly named Unesco world cultural heritage sites two revolve around stone: the Dolomites situated in the Italian Alps and the Tubbataha-Reef on the Philippines. One location on the Unesco list has been stricken recently: in June the Elbe valley near Dresden lost its ranking.
An „Answer to the Economic Crisis“ is what the Italian trade association Confindustria Marmomaccine hopes to give young member enterprises for their participation in the foreign fair. A total of 100.000 € have been ear-marked for this program dubbed „For Members Only“ (Italian).
