Latest news: The fair „Abitare Il Tempo“ with focus on interior design and furniture will be integrated into Marmomacc, as Veronafiere, organizer of both events, informs. „Abitare“ used to take place shortly before Marmomacc so that stone companies could easily appear on both shows. Now, it will be located in the Palaexpo building where Chinese companies had been housed before.

Architects and Designers are the prime target group of the Revestir Trade Fair to be held from March 11th to 14th in São Paulo. Some 48,000 visitors are expected to attend this, the 12th Revestir at which exhibitors from Italy, Spain, Argentina, Switzerland, Germany and more will be represented.

„Quarrying in style“ could be the subtitle of British-Canadian designer Emilie F. Grenier’s creation: she has produced bronze tools and silk clothing for quarrying minerals.

Photos of the statue of Christ at the top of Rio de Janeiro’s Corcovado are showing damage to the finger caused by lightning with struck the statue on January 16th. Close up one can see the soapstone mosaic in which the statue is clad.   

Stone|Work|Space is a refurbished project space and workshop whose target is to keep alive the quarry landscape, limestone tradition and knowledge about the geology of Portland.   

   What an Antarctic landscape looks like under the crust of ice, has been reproduced with hitherto unseen precision by an international team of scientists lead by the British Antarctic Survey.

Video of the month: coral builds its own „homes“ – a similar concept is the idea behind Biomasons in which bacteria produce bricks under normal temperature and atmosphere, or to be more precise, excrete them (1, 2).
