Italian Grassi Pietre Company is well-known for its Pietra di Vicenza limestone available in yellow and grey nuances. But the material is not suitable for outdoor use. Also, some clients steer clear of natural stone at all costs even though they highly value its appearance.
It is for these target groups that Grassi Pietre has developed „Pietranova“, an engineered stone made with stone meal and cement. The starting material originates from the quarries and is a waste product.
The material was presented at this year’s Design Week held in Milan in April.
The Vicenza-based Company also unveiled its new brand by the name of „Artenadesign“ targeting outdoor furnishing markets.
„Fuoco&Fiamme“ is an introduction with which Pietra di Vicenza uses wood and Corten-Steel each with its distinct function: food is prepared on the counter top or natural-stone wash-basin and subsequently barbecued on a steel grid. When ready, the hot dishes are arranged on the wooden countertop ready for consumption.
The red Corten-Steel which carries the patina of a rusty surface, binds the elements optically. The base made of natural stone lends a massive appearance. Matching bar stools are available as well. Architect and designer Aldo Perossa was responsible for the design.
