The „Women in Stone“ work group of the Marble institute of America (MIA) is meeting at the new natural stone and tile trade fair StonExpo/TISE East in Miami on October 10th 2014 for a series of talks and networking. A video shows the ladies at the jovial kickoff of their group’s work in January (1, 2, 3).

Light switches in natural stone are on offer by Anigmo. The distinguishing factor is the sensor behind the light switch which allows touchless switching on and off.   

The building branch in Great Britain saw positive growth by 3.5% in May 2014 relative to the same period one year prior. Private building projects were up some 16.8% and public construction augmented by 29.3%. And growth continues, according to the Natural Stone Specialist (1, 2).

The Spanish Natural Stone Trade Association Federación Española de la Piedra Natural considers the German market of particular interest. The association solicited an expert to give a talk on the subject.   

Designing public or semi-public buildings or enclosed places such as banks, cinemas, hospitals or airports will be a main theme at the Abitare il Tempo Trade Fair to be held jointly with Marmomacc (September 24th to 27th 2014). The aim is to present Italian products in this contract sector. The sector is poised for further growth according to a press release.

The Natural Stone Trade Fair of Istanbul will be held in fall, specifically November 4th to 07th rather than in June as had previously been the case.   

The sand sculpture season has culminated in the northern hemisphere.   

In Angola implementation of natural stone in building public complexes is to become mandatory. The Minister for Geology and Mining has invoked a task force to deal with technical issues. The administration of Tenerife and the Canary Islands has already implemented similar measures (Portuguese, Spanish).
