From July 15 to August 15 a Stone Sculpture Symposium will he held in the Turkish city of Kartal. Application is open until June 5th.
Kartal is a district of Istanbul. The symposium will be held for the 4th time.
A total of 10 artists will be chosen for the symposium, as said in the application form. Artists who had participated before will not be accepted again. This is due to the fact that the authorities want to introduce „new artists to the public of Kartal”.
For participating artists transportation, accommodation and breakfast, lunch and dinner expenses will be paid by Kartal Municipality. A royalty of 3000 € will be given to each participant who has finished his or her work during the event.
The sculptures created remain in the possession of Kartal Municipality. The authorities also hold the rights of exhibiting these sculptures in museums or in temporary exhibitions. The artist will allow filming and other documentation of his/her work and the working process. Kartal Municipality reserves the rights of using this material for publicity purposes.
Special conditions are in rule for one companion each artist may bring with.
The material to be used is white Marmara Island marble. The topic is free.
