The cost for attending the webinar is US-$ 10 for MIA-members and US-$ 15 for non-members (who have to register). Such a 30 minute online-course is available from any place at any time via internet just by clicking through the procedure.
Presenter of the safety-webinar is Chad Vadnais, Director of Environmental Health & Safety for the Dal-Tile Corporation and MIA Safety Committee member. According to Vadnais, „The three keys to a safe work environment are recognition, evaluation, and control.”
Four main areas are covered:
* Hazard recognition
* Common areas of complacency
* Best management practices
* Available resources
Mike Loflin, Industry Research & Information Manager at MIA says: „This webinar is a new way for MIA to promote safety best practices in the natural stone industry. Companies can access the webinar at any time and use it for their ongoing employee safety training.”
Carol Wilkins, Accreditation & Special Projects Manager agrees: „Safety is the most important topic in our industry, and the highest priority for MIA. In 2016, as MIA’s online education program continues to grow, we plan to feature topics such as workers compensation, ergonomics solutions (for fabricators and installers), and OSHA recordkeeping.
As MIA’s online education program grows, more webinars will be added to the bookstore.
