(April 2008) Two famous architects will be attending the International Congress on Natural Stone in Architecture starting May 9th in Madrid, Rafael Moneo of Spain and David Chipperfield of Great Brittain, according to the Spanish trade association Federación Española de la Piedra Natural (FDP) (pdf). The congress will take place under the auspices of and during the Piedra trade-fair in Madrid (May 7th – 10th 2008). Its aim is to bring together builders and architects from all over the world for an exchange of ideas and solutions.
Rafael Moneo’s works include the Los Angeles Cathedral, the extension of the Prado-Museum and the Atocha-Station in Madrid. David Chipperfield worked with Richard Rogers and Norman Foster, designed the famous River and Roweing Museum in Henley-on-Thames and, more recently, the German Literary Archive in Marbach on Necar. He also worked on several projects on Berlin’s Museum island.
