The NSI has started a fundraising campaign for workers‘ protection from Silicosis.

The NSI only calls for fundraising compaigns when things are really serious. One such activity was started in 2007 by the – then – Marble Institute of America (MIA) when false media reports came up on poisonous radon gas and radiation purportedly emanating from granite. The association activated the worldwide stone sector and proved by scientific research that the allegations were ficticous.

Now, the press release by the NSI reads: “The natural stone industry is facing a pivotal moment for worker safety. Protecting worker health remains our highest priority. Workers are suffering from silicosis, and the Natural Stone Institute (NSI) is actively advancing the research, education, training, and advocacy needed to improve workplace safety while ensuring regulations are based on sound science.

We need your help.

Membership provides the foundation for this work, but membership dues alone cannot cover the growing costs of advocacy, research, expert consultation, travel, and industry representation. Additional support has been provided through the Natural Stone Foundation (NSF), but we need more. We are seeking your help to contribute donations to NSF which will continue to fund critical initiatives through NSI including independent industrial hygiene expertise, scientific research, regulatory engagement, worker safety resources, and other general support.

Your support helps fund:
• Independent industrial hygiene expertise,
• Scientific research and data collection,
• Regulatory monitoring and engagement,
• Industry advocacy and representation,
• Worker safety education and training resources,
• Other general support.

Donations received through July 31 will receive an additional match by an anonymous donor, up to $50,000. For every dollar you donate, this additional contribution will be added to our fundraising total, allowing us to better advocate for NSI members!
Every dollar makes a difference.“
